The official name for this shell is large tablecemesoft, but in the folk mouth this shell is better known as razor. There are different types of knife lifts and they occur in different places in the world. The Ensis sliqua is usually known as Scottish razor and lives up to a depth of 50m and can reach a length of more than 20 cm. The Scottish razor lives mainly in the deeper trenches behind the surf and stands straight on in the sand. This shell feeds itself with plankton. The Scottish razor is a clam and has a long, rather firm shell. The inside of the shell is the meat. The color of the shell is green/brownish and has a clear growth line, which is easily visible at both ends of the shell.
