Amanda is the French-speaking name for this clam. Internationally this shellfish is also known as Dog Cockle of Bittersweet. Amanda can achieve a diameter of 10 cm and has a brown marbled appearance, which is why this specimen is also called marmershell in Dutch. Amandes is a very sturdy shellfish and has a relatively thick shell in which the flesh is located. Amandes is found in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and on the Atlantic coast to a depth of 20 cm. Amandes is freshly available but is hard to keep alive.
