Description

Gravad lax or gravax is a typical Scandinavian dish of marinated salmon which is mainly eaten as an aperitif. The fresh salmon is marinated with salt, pepper, sugar and dill. By packing and storing the salmon at low temperature or by vacuum, all flavors are optimally drawn into the salmon. In the past this happened in the ground, hence also the name gravad (hole in the ground) lax (salmon). After marinating, cut the salmon into thin slices and serve as a snack at the drink, brunch or starter. In a classical style, you serve a mustard-diles sauce.
