Description
Vernhaai is internationally known as Dogfish and is found in large parts of the Atlantic. You will also find them in the waters of the Pacific from Japan to New Zealand. The shark swims to a depth of 1400 m. The nhai can reach a length of 160 cm with a weight of 9 kg. The thornshark has a rough skin that is mostly gray colored. Remarkable are the thick sharp spines that are in front of the dorsal fins, hence its name. In Europe, the population of the thornshark is stable.
