Zander comes from the large family of perch-like species. Perch-like species can occur in both fresh and salt water. Zander is perhaps the best known species of fish found in fresh waters. There are roughly two types of commercial interest, the Lucioperca and the Canadencis. The first occurs in Europe and the second in Canadian waters. Zander has a predominantly green colored skin with visible vertical dark lines on her back, her ventral side is white.
