Description
Purple dye murex is a snail-like one, it not only looks beautiful, but is also very tasty. Murice is her Italian name. In Dutch it is better known as the fire horns. The Murice is found in the Mediterranean Sea and lives to a depth of 20 m. The Murice can grow up to 6 to 10 cm and has a characteristic variable shell with bumps and spines. The Murice prefers sandy soils. Usually this shellfish comes on the market as a by-catch and should be traded alive.
