Sea bead is a crispy, salty sea vegetable. It grows on barren, outlying areas under the influence of ebb and flood. Sea bead is often the first plant to grow on the bare swallowing. Because the plant actively absorbs salt water it has a very salty taste. It's packed with vitamins. Sea bead is a one-year-old plant that is preplanted by seed formation. To germinate, sea-salt seed requires fresh water. A lot of rain in early spring is therefore necessary for growth. Sea bead is a global species. In Europe, the main species of Salicornia is Europea. Sea bead is available from mid-May to early September. A plant can be harvested several times as it grows again and again after cutting. At the end of the season (mid-August) the first white flowers are visible.
