The Dutch shrimp has different names such as gray shrimp or North Sea shrimp. Internationally, this shrimp is called Gray Shrimp and is mainly found in the shallow coastal waters of Western Europe. Along the Dutch coastal waters, to be specific the Wadden Sea and in the Zeeland waters, the shrimps live on sand and slik soils. The Dutch shrimp is a fast growing specimen and is suitable for consumption in 4 to 5 months from larf to fully grown shrimp. The Dutch shrimp can reach a maximum length of 9 cm and an age of 3 years. The appearance of the Dutch shrimp is partly transparent and light gray, light brown in color. Because the Dutch shrimp spoils quickly, it is cooked on board immediately after the catch. The shrimp will color red/brown.
