Description
Lupini belongs to the family of the carpet shell-like and is also called the blasted clams. Lupini is a typical Italian name for this shellfish and is mainly referred to as lupini vongole in our southern neighbors. Lupini is a bivalve circular shellfish that can achieve a maximum size of 5cm. In practice, you will often not find it larger than 2 cm. Lupini is predominantly gray in color and has small black spots on the shell. Lupini is mainly fished in the Mediterranean. Large concentrations are found in the Adriatic Sea wherever it is grown.
